About Women Outside

The doors opened at 5:30pm. No one knew what to expect. Would anyone show up? Or would be it be a total bust? As it neared showtime, a few familiar faces trickled through the doors. A seat filled here and another there. And then the floodgates opened. Women, men, and children of all ages squeezed through the door. We were completely out of chairs, not to mention standing room.

And that was only the first night of the inaugural Women Outside Adventure Forum of 2016. The following two nights were as much of a success, perhaps even more so. When we were asked if there'd be another forum, the answer was "Hell yeah!"

The Women Outside Adventure Forum by Backcountry Experience seeks to inspire and empower women (and men!) of all ages by showcasing the incredible adventures and work women are doing in the outdoors. This three-day forum features a rock star lineup of female athletes, authors, filmmakers, and industry professionals.

This year's theme is Explorations and will feature:

Ultrarunner & La Sportiva athlete Kelly Halpin
National Geographic Adventurer Hilaree Nelson
US/Mexico Border thru-hikers Tenny Ostrem and Claire Wernstedt-Lynch
